In the Fitbit quiz we currently recommend these fitness bands: Ionic, Versa (regular, lite, and Special Edition), Inspire, Inspire HR, and Charge 3. But how do we know what Fitbit is right for you? Well this entirely depends on the answers you give to the quiz. Using your answers to work out your specific needs will allow us to compare them to the specifications to decide on what Fitbit is best for you.
The Ionic, Versa(s), Charge 3, and Inspire HR all have heart rate (hr) monitors only the Inspire does not. But do you even need an hr monitor? Well, it depends on what you intend on using the fitness tracker for. If you are doing exercise that involves not stepping, i.e. cycling, rowing etc. then it is the only way to measure your activity. This is because the pedometer in the Fitbit can’t track those sorts of exercise. If you are just using it for general day-to-day use then it may not be so useful to have. The heart rate monitor can also be used for in depth detail into your sleep. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend, what you are using it for, and how seriously you exercise. As technology advances the cost to build in a heart rate monitor has dropped, which has resulted in most FitBit models having one built in.
FitBit came about as a fitness tracker, and to an extent they still are. However smartwatches are becoming more popular and more affordable. And that affordability pushes down the price of regular fitness trackers to the point where FitBit now concentrate more and more on smartwatches. We think this is a good long term move as the fitness tracker elements are still built into these wearables. The Versa models are the main FitBit smartwatches, with the Ionic also offering smart features with more of a sports focus.
It used to be that to buy a FitBit you had to know your wrist size. That is, now, no longer the case. They are now a one size fits all, making your purchase decision easier.
Some of the older FitBits come in with optional sizes, so if you are looking at older models then to help you decide Fitbit have created a nifty print out tool to work out the right size, check it out here: here.
